Our Mission
At Mooresville Christian Academy our mission is to provide Christ-centered grammar and secondary academic instruction to partner with parents in their charge to train and educate their children. We aim to equip students with a Biblical worldview and the academic tools they need to become leaders in the Kingdom of God in this generation.
Mooresville Christian Academy
History

Mooresville Christian Academy began classes in September of 1998 with 15 students. The school was located at the Parker Avenue facility of Calvary Community Church, now River Life Fellowship. MCA's inception was the result of the Lord's prompting of church leadership, parents, and Janet Moore concerning His desire to restore Christian education in the Mooresville area. Believing that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," these people set out to provide schooling that would assist Christian parents in their charge to educate their children.

From the beginning, there was vision and direction from the Lord that resulted in heavy emphasis on the use of Biblically based curriculum taught by committed Christian teachers with particular care given to the nurturing of relationship with Christ and the character virtues of attentiveness, respect, and responsibility. These guiding principles were established in an effort to offer an education to enhance faith in God and to avoid the inevitable conflict that comes between that faith and learning based on a non-scriptural foundation.

Under the direction of Janet Moore, the school operated at the Parker Avenue location for three years and increased in enrollment to 50 students. In the summer of 2001, Larry Foldoe became the Headmaster at MCA and the school moved to River Life Fellowship's new facility on Highway 21. In 2002, the school divided into the Upper School, which is located on Highway 150, and the Lower School, which remains at the church facility. Enrollment increased to 80 students. Larry Foldoe completed his tenure at MCA in May, 2003.

Betsy Harris was appointed as the Headmistress of MCA in May, 2003 and directed the school until June of 2007. Under her leadership the enrollment increased to 110 students and the school began the pursuit of accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International. Upon Betsy Harris' resignation Janet Moore once again took the reins as Principal. In addition, Tom McCraw joined the staff as Assistant Principal.
Janet Moore is a lifelong resident of the Mooresville community and the daughter of two lifelong educators, June and Sarah Reece. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in journalism. She and her husband, Chuck, have three grown children and nine grandchildren. She is passionate about seeing young people move into God's purposes in His Kingdom.
Tom McCraw is another Mooresville native who brings 30 years of educational experience to MCA administration. A graduate of Appalachian State University, he served as chairman of the Academy's school board for three years prior to this new position at the school. He also brings his experience in Christian leadership as an elder at River Life Fellowship. Tom and his wife, Libby, have two grown children.
The board of directors, administration, and faculty at MCA remain dedicated to equipping students with a quality education and preparing them for service to the Kingdom of God in this generation. We eagerly anticipate God's direction and provision in the years to come, and it is the prayer of River Life Fellowship and the leadership of MCA that God will continue to be glorified in all our efforts.
