Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance is important to a student's success in school and establishes good work habits and self-discipline. All absences are to be verified by a call to the school from a parent or guardian on the day of the absence. Since we have limited days and only out-of-school sessions on Fridays, please try to schedule appointments and trips after school. If you must take your student out of school, please inform the school in writing. Students must be signed out by a parent in the office before they are allowed to leave school grounds.

A student at MCA is expected to be present and on time every day school is in session. Students are expected to complete all requirements for courses. We will gladly cooperate with families needing to take students from school for unusual circumstances, but we expect schoolwork to be completed promptly. Parents should make sure that assignments are completed and turned in, as the teacher requires.

In case of excessive absences (three per quarter) make-up times (15 minutes per missed class) may be required to satisfy the state requirements and insure adequate student progress. Absences exceeding 18 days may result in retention.

Although we do not have in session classes on Fridays, we do consider it a school day, so assignments (usually two to four hours)are given to students on Thursdays, and students must complete assigned work before returning to school on Mondays.

Tardiness is a bad habit and is very disruptive to class activities. Three tardies per semester is excessive. Students will be required to make up time after school in detention for one hour per every three tardies. (Three tardies will count as an absence.)

In case of inclement weather, please watch Channel 9 Eyewitness News or check this website under the "News and Announcements" page for school closings/delays. If MCA is not listed on Channel 9 (and nothing is posted on the "News and Announcements" page), school will operate on a regular schedule.
