Philosophy
Why do we dress the way we do? Is it to honor God and promote the gospel? Are we honoring one another and our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit or are we conforming to the standards of this world? The following scriptures are the foundations of our uniform policy:
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. I Corinthians 6:19-20
Whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Colossians 3:17
Whether therefore you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31
Uniform Policy
As a Christian school we want to reflect modesty and Godliness in everything we do. MCA does not want to be overly involved in dictating fashion and taste in matters of clothing and appearance. We do believe there is cause for concern if a student's appearance reflects an attitude of slothfulness or rebellion.
All uniform apparel is to be purchased through First Impressions Embroidery and Printing at 402 Shinnville Road, Mooresville, North Carolina, 28115, 704-663-4828. You may contact them for a private fitting at their shop.
All students are required to have a short-sleeved, burgundy polo displaying the school logo and a khaki pant.
All clothing is to be worn clean and wrinkle free. No hats allowed at any time.
All clothing is not to be form fitting to any part of the body, especially the chest and hip. To acheive proper fit, alterations may be necessary. In addition, all pant lengths are not to touch the floor when in a stationary position, regardless of the shoe worn on any particular day. The administration, in cooperation with First Impressions, will guide any and all students in the ordering of uniform attire that is sized appropriately.
All upper body clothing worn on the outside layer must display the uniform school logo. (Students may wear jackets and coats without the school logo to school, however, these articles of clothing must be removed when students enter the school building.)
Cotton and chambray oxfords are to be worn inside the pants with a black belt. (Anytime belt loops are exposed, a black belt is to be worn.)
Students may wear school-ordered spirit wear t-shirts and sweatshirts on Thursdays with any approved khaki bottom. (At the high school location, any MCA t-shirt or sweatshirt purchased from the school in prior years that is white, black, gray, or burgundy may be worn. At the lower school, any t-shirt or sweatshirt with MCA logo may be worn.)
All footwear is to be clean and neat. All students in grades K-5 are to wear a closed-toe shoe at all times. All students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to wear a closed-toe shoe.
Students should adhere to the same standards of modesty at any and all times in the school building whether before, during, or after school hours as well as at MCA special events including field trips, athletic practices and games, or school sponsored events outside of the school building such as graduation or the athletic recognition banquet. These standards apply also at the MCA Science Fair, MCA World's Fair, and the Medieval Feast.
Failure to dress according to the uniform guidelines (including wearing wrinkled or soiled uniforms or uniforms that are too small, or pant legs too long, etc.) reflects poorly on not only the individual, but also on the school body as a whole. Noncompliance with the stated guidelines will be viewed as defiance and disrespectful and will not be tolerated by the administration. Any and all violations will be documented in the school office, and parents will be asked to meet with the adminsitration to review the uniform policy and to reaffirm their parental commitment to adhere to it.
